About Eri
I am a bilingual (Japanese and English) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California and Tennessee.
I am a compassionate and culturally sensitive therapist, dedicated to supporting adults, children, and couples as they navigate the complexities of life, identity, and relationships. My heart lies especially in working with first- and second-generation Asian clients, as well as those navigating the rich but often challenging experience of holding mixed ethnic and cultural identities.
I understand how difficult it can be to figure out who you are, especially when you're carrying the weight of anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, shame, or the feeling of being "stuck" between cultures or expectations. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. Together, we will explore your story with curiosity, compassion, and care, creating room for both healing and growth.
Clients often describe me as warm, supportive, and collaborative. In our work, you can expect to be met with empathy, respect, and encouragement, as we untangle the feelings and patterns that may be holding you back, whether that’s sadness, anxiety, shame, guilt, or worry. My goal is to offer you a safe and affirming space where you can feel deeply seen, heard, and understood.
In addition to my work with adults, I specialize in supporting children aged 13 and under who may be experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. I work closely with parents, offering compassionate guidance and practical strategies for navigating concerns such as anxiety, trauma, adjustment difficulties, ADHD, and depression.
As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Japanese, I offer a culturally attuned and inclusive approach, honoring each client’s unique background, life experiences, and aspirations. I believe that everyone holds the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change, and it is my privilege to walk beside you as you move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.
A little about me...
I was born and raised in Japan and came to the United States, bringing with me a lifelong passion for helping others and connecting across cultures. My experiences have taken me to many places, including volunteering at an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan — a time that deeply shaped my commitment to human connection and care. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy music, traveling, learning about other cultures, and meaningful conversations with people from all walks of life.
I am looking forward to connecting with you!
